                  CONTACT

Lodovica Guarnieri is a researcher, designer, and cultural worker whose work draws upon the entanglements between ecology and modern infrastructures. Her practice grapples with technoscience as it relates to colonialism, extractivism, and their toxic afterlives in water ecologies. Her performances, texts, and events sit with these phenomena to uncover new material imaginaries for social and environmental justice.

Lodovica is Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art in London where she leads the Architectural Design Studio 02 with Bahar Noorizadeh and Mohamad Safa. She is co-founder and curator of cultural programmes of The Tidal Garden, a Venice-based research agency that explores the edible potential of halophytes - salt-tolerant plants - as a tool for cultural adaptation to climate change.

Over the last eight years, Lodovica has held curatorial and research positions at Van Abbemuseum (2016-17) and Manifesta 12 (2017-18). In 2019 she worked on the research project and exhibition ”Hostile Environment(s)” run by Border Forensis’ co-director Lorenzo Pezzani and in 2021-22 she was research fellow for the “Non-Extractive Architecture” research and exhibition programme.

She has presented performances, essays, and events at cultural institutions such as TBA21-Academy, V-A-C Foundation, The Anthropocene Campus/HKW, Lisbon Architecture Triennial, Stroom Den Haag, Bureau Europa, Associaciòn de Arte Utíl, and VIPER Gallery among others.

Lodovica holds MA with distinction from the Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths University of London; an MDes in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands; and a BA cum laude from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan, Italy.
