Orizzonte Sale. Public Programme curated for The Tidal Garde. Venice, IT

Lodovica Guarnieri (Italy, 1989) is a researcher, designer and artist whose work draws upon the entanglements between ecology and modern infrastructures. Her practice grapples with technoscience as it relates extractivism, chemical exposure, colonialism, and the toxic afterlives of the petrochemical industry in water ecologies. Her performances, texts and events sit with these phenomena to uncover new material imaginaries for social and environmental justice.

Since 2015, Lodovica has held curatorial positions at Van Abbemuseum and Manifesta 12. She was part of the research project Hostile Environment(s) run by Forensic Architecture’s member Lorenzo Pezzani, and Non-Extractive Architecture at V-A-C Zattere. She has developed performances, lectures and public programmes for TBA21-Academy, V-A-C Foundation, Anthropocene Campus/HKW, Lisbon Architecture Triennial, Architecture Association, Associaciòn de Arte Utíl, VIPER Gallery, and Stroom Den Haag among others.

She is curator of public programme for The Tidal Garden, a project founded in Venice to support the emergence of new food habits in times of rising sea levels.

Lodovica holds MA with distinction from the Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths University of London; an MDes in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands; and a BA cum laude from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan, Italy.
